According to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the estimated 2013 first quarter output of construction aggregates produced and shipped for consumption in the U.S. was 211 million metric tons of crushed stone – a decrease of 4 percent when compared with the same period in 2012. However, crushed stone production increased in three of nine geographic divisions with the largest increases recorded in the Pacific and West South Central divisions. The five leading states in descending order of production-for-consumption are Texas, Missouri, Florida, Pennsylvania, and Oklahoma.
