How often should I check or change the settings on a crusher?

Crusher settings should be checked and adjusted regularly in order to maximize consistent finished products.

In this video, Jeff Gray, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Telsmith explains the necessary adjustments for optimal settings for Jaw Crushers and Cone Crushers.

Here are the important points Jeff covers in the video for Jaw Crushers:

  1. The abrasiveness of the material will determine the frequency in which the settings are checked: the periodic timeframe could be weekly, monthly, or yearly depending on the operation.

  2. Jaw Crusher settings, typically, should remain within a ½ inch of the optimal setting which performs best downstream of the Jaw Crusher.

Here are the important points Jeff covers in the video for Cone Crushers:

  1. Like the Jaw Crusher, the abrasiveness of the material will determine the frequency in which the cone crusher settings are checked: the periodic timeframe could be weekly, monthly, or yearly depending on the operation.

  2. The position of the cone in the circuit will determine the adjustment: in the Secondary position, the cone should remain within an 1/8 of an inch of the optimal setting; in the Tertiary position, the cone should remain within a 1/16 of an inch of the optimal setting because it determines your finished products.
