Why is feed distribution important to a cone crusher?

In this video, Elias Macias, Applications Engineer at Telsmith, explains why feed distribution is important to a cone crusher.

It’s important to distribute the large and small material into the cone crusher for three reasons:

1. It will improve your production by using the entire life of your liners.

2. You can have a better quality of the product when it comes to size and shape.

3. It will lower operations cost by reducing the wear life and fully utilizing the manganese.

A common issue that pure distribution can cause in your crusher:

Too many fines in the chamber will cause the crusher to overload, which happens because the finer material fills the voids between the coarser material, thus packing the material into a solid mass.
